New Mexico Visit

This past week we made our yearly visit out to New Mexico to see Dan's family. Riley and Denton love playing with their cousins and we love getting to see family that we don't get to see very often. We spent our time mostly just hanging out and visiting, but we did get to go to cousin Nevaeh's soccer game and also to a birthday party for a family friend (sadly I forgot to take pictures at the party, but it was a really fun time). The kids got along great and we had a fantastic time.

We're still here!!!

Sorry we have been MIA from the blog. It has been such a busy summer. It was filled with weddings, weddings and more weddings; days spent at the pool; Bar-B-Ques with friends; picnics; trips to Sea World and Padres games and just weekends spent running around! We are very sad to see it come to an end but are looking forward to a fabulous fall and winter. Take a look at some of our pictures from the summer!

The Goars go camping

This past weekend we went camping with a group of friends. We went to Vail Lake Resort in Temecula. It is this huge resort with three pools, waterslides, horseback riding, mini golf, fishing etc. etc.

I wasn't really sure what to expect camping with a toddler but we ended up having the best time! We played at the campsite, went on walks, swam at the pool and the guys went fishing (once with the kids and once on their own). At night they had a concert at their little village and we went to that for a bit. The kids had a blast dancing but after a long day in the sun we were all a bit tired so we headed back to camp for some smores and hot chocolate.

Denton was such a great little camper. He never complained once, he just went with the flow. He slept perfectly all night long in the tent (in his pack and play) and even slept in longer than Riley. We only spent one night there, while some of the group stayed another night (we learned our lesson and definitely won't be setting up and tearing down for only one night of camping again).

We had a blast and can't wait to do it again next year!

Weekend Get-Away

This past weekend we went to Palm Desert and stayed at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort. It is this place geared towards families with a water park and lots of kid friendly stuff. We had the BEST time there and can't wait to go back. We headed to the pool on our first morning there and it was already 90 degrees at 9am! We were very happy with this since San Diego has been unseasonably cool this July and we were in need of some heat! While the kids and I were searching for a good spot to lay our stuff, Dan surprised us and went and reserved us a poolside cabana!! It was such a treat! It was so nice to have our own little area and some room for Denton to roam without worrying about him going into the pool. Not to mention it was nice to have the shade. It got to around 108 degrees, and the cement was on FIRE!

It was so great to play in the water and relax. We went on water slides, lounged in the lazy river, played in the pool and goofed off in the spray zone! I think we spent 7 or 8 hours at the pool that day (Dan and I took turns with Denton back at the room so he could nap) but Riley stayed with it like a champ.

After our exhausting day at the pool, we walked over to the mall across the way called The River. We ate at this yummy BBQ place recommended by my friend at work and it was awesome. The best part was when we walked out the sky was this gorgeous midnight blue color and was so pretty. We only had our cell phones with us so the picture is a bit blurry but pretty nonetheless.

We stayed thru lunch the next morning and then headed home rejuvenated from a well deserved weekend away! We can't wait to go back again!!
