The Sacrificial Sports Mom: January 2010

For “sports Moms” with very busy schedules, who find it tough to make time for themselves, The Sacrificial Sports Mom promises to help busy, overloaded moms find time for nutrition, fitness and overall well-being by sharing healthy quick recipes, time management tools and fitness programs handpicked for busy moms.

TSSM is backed by the first-hand experience of a crazy busy “sports Mom” to address the need for some sanity in an on-the-go world. We understand the sacrifices that “sports moms” make for their children on a daily basis and strive to make the lives of “sports moms” a little easier.

Denton

Denton is 8 months old. He is just growing WAY too fast. Time goes by so fast when they are little but with two kids, it seems to be on fast forward! All of the milestones for Denton seem to be coming so fast, I hardly remember him as a tiny little newborn.

He is getting up on his hands and knees and can move forward a bit but then goes back to the tummy/army crawl (but he is fast with the army crawl). He is climbing stuff and really wants to get into things. He opens cabinet drawers in the kitchen so it is definitely time to put those child locks on them. He loves his bath time with his sister. After I take him out and get him dressed, he crawls right back into the bathroom and tries to pull himself up onto the side of the tub. He can just about do it too, scary. He is starting to clap and gets the biggest smile on his face when he does it. He has one palm open and one closed, but he still does the clapping action. He still only says da-da but he does lots of other sounds, but nothing resembling words. I stopped nursing him a few weeks ago. He was down to just one nursing session a day anyway and he just stated to really lack interest in it. So we have him completely on formula now. He eats a lot of food now. All types of fruits and veggies and chicken, rice, noodles, waffles, bread/toast etc. I still make his baby food myself but have just been making things chunkier so he can adapt to chewing.

Denton is such a happy easy going baby. He is always smiling and giggling and just bringing us so much joy. Riley is definitely a mini version of me and Denton is for sure a mini version of Dan. it is amazing how much they look just like each other as well. I will have to find some pictures of Riley as a baby at this age and post them because it is amazing how similar they look!!

For now we are just getting in all of the snuggles and cuddles and play time with him as possible because before we know it, he will be running around and needing us less and less :(

Riley

Riley will be four in April, but she acts like she is 13. Goodness. We say Riley is an old soul. She has always been mature for her age and people have a hard time believing she is only 3. She is the best big sister any little brother could ask for. She is always helping Mom out and giving nothing but love for her brother. We were very lucky in that she never exhibited any signs of jealousy when we brought her brother home. She jumped immediately into Mom mode and has been that way ever since.

Riley loves anything princess related and is a girly girl for sure! Princess dresses, jewelry, make up etc. But don't let that fool you, this is one tough little girl. She loves to rough house and get dirty.

She has blessed us with her kind heart, beautiful smile and witty sense of humor. From the moment she was born she had us wrapped around her finger and our love for her just grows by leaps and bounds with every passing day.

So how does this work?

A blog huh? Sounds easy enough right? I thought it would be a fun thing to put together a blog for our family so that family and friends who don't have a facebook can keep up to date with what is going on in our mad mad world.

I have no idea how long I will keep this up or if I will even post anything after today but it is worth a shot. So here goes.................
